Bogie Presses are used to set up bogies after build, repair or refurbishment.
The press applies weight to the bogie to mimic the loads imposed by the rail vehicle and to settle the suspension. This allows the ride height to be set correctly so no further adjustment is needed once the body is fitted.
Bogie Presses bridge the rails and consist of cylinders that apply the load to the suspension points. Adapters can be used to accommodate different types of bogie.
The design incorporates a beam fitted under the rails to transfer the weight from the bogie’s wheels to the press structure. The beam can be mounted in the floor in depots where the rails are flush or under a raised section.
The press is powered by a three-phase electrical supply and will have an independant electro-hdraulic powerpack to operate the cylinders.
