Duff-Norton electro-linear actuators are specially designed for a variety of commercial and industrial applications. They are used for opening and closing, tilting and pivoting, lifting and lowering and positioning. Applications include dampers, oven doors, processing tank doors, antennas, satellite dishes, orthopedic beds and other medical equipment, ergonomic furniture, conveyor adjusting systems, fire ventilation protection and agricultural equipment, etc.
Custom designs are also available for special applications. Electro-linear actuators are also being used to replace pneumatics and hydraulics when high maintenance costs and environmental problems (leaking hydraulic oil) are of concern.The company recently launched their new and exciting range of Supercylinders™ in conjunction with their smaller range of light industrial LT & LR series electro-linear actuators which is also suitable and widely used in the orthopaedic bed industry.
The Supercylinder™ range is available in capacities of up to 25 Tons and stroke lengths of up to 4 000mm. These units are available with either acme thread or ball screw lifting shafts, and also offer additional features on request such as servo drive adaptors, washdown motors, hand wheels for manual operation, as well as available in either trunnion or clevis mount. The company is able to supply these units with the standard industrial voltage requirements of 230Vac, 380Vac, and 525Vac.
These units are extremely popular in the mining and heavy industrial industries due to their low maintenance requirements, avoiding the need for hydraulic or pneumatic systems.The LT & LR series is offered in a variety of different configurations and capacities which ranges from 12kg up to 600kg push/pull force, and voltages of 12, 24 and 36VDC. Stroke lengths offered are from 50mm up to 300mm. What makes these units so attractive in the medical and industrial industries is the fact that they are offered with the option of including a remote hand set, and controllers/converters which makes the installation process very user friendly and easy.
